I have always been interested in A.I. since it first started to trend online. I remember when Dalle first came out everyone was playing with it. The outcomes that come from using an A.I. image generator can sometimes be uncanny which is something that I find interesting. During the labs I found that playing with words that do not exist and combining that with Hugging face created some interesting images. But also taking ordinary words and misusing them in a weird order also created some interesting results which is what I found the beauty in. I also think the glitch aspect is interesting with combining all of the things we learned in the lab I feel like I could create some very uncanny images/works. I want to create some sort of series that involves animals/creatures or liminal spaces and disrupt them by using all of these methods we learned to the point were they become unrecognizable and more abstract. I have always been interested in the unknown world or life. In a way I feel like that is how A.I. works as well. It is a machine with life without having an actual life. Where I am trying to get at it is that what we create work we are creating a part of ourselves in the work and slowly developing our experiences when the work is true. That is why I am interested in creating a series of images that depict these weird environments or creatures that could be considered true or alive not necessarily in this world but instead in a more eerie sophisticated world.

Throughout the reading of Glitch Studies Manifesto I noticed that some of the things mentioned in the reading relate in a weird way to how I work in the studio when I am creating. The part where it talks about getting away from the established action scripts and join the avant-garde of the unknown stood out to me because I have always been a firm believer of playing with the idea of the unknown which in my opinion is what makes art great. The idea of interrupting the norm to discover something much greater than what we are used to knowing. In my terms this section of the reading was referring to being open minded and letting experimentation be the drive of the work without being too in control of it. Another part of the reading that stood out to me is when it talked about deconstructing hierarchies and reshaping them in the artwork, letting the machine take control. Letting go of genres/expectations could lead to better artwork in general. In this case I think the machine could mean two different things; that being the soul of the artist or the soul of the art. I am glad I read this reading after doing the data mosh lab in class. The way the reading is structured and how it talks about glitch and even how the paragraphs are being glitched throughout remind me of how data mosh works and how it literally melts into itself. To me this reading melts into itself just in the way how it talks about deconstruction and how smoothly it transitions from topic to topic. After reading the Glitch Studies Manifesto it left me interested in experimenting more with A.I. and glitch but especially data moshing.

During the lab I noticed that blender is such a powerful tool to create almost anything. I found it interesting because of the way it works and how much information there is to learn. It feels like there is no end and endless possibilities to create. I had used blender a bit before just to mess around and sculpt but nothing too serious. I had no idea that there was this many tools and specifically the hotkey shortcuts. I'm excited to get into sculpting in blender because I have always been interested in learning how to 3D render. For the wearable project I am interested in creating a whole mask filter that completely takes over the face. I was planning on sculpting it and making it from scratch to see what I can come up with. As for the mask I was thinking something along the lines of a hybrid alien/bird with sharp teeth. I still don't know 100% though if that is what I want to settle on. My other idea was creating these giant googly eyes that move around as the person wearing it moves. Realistically though I will just have to see what I end up choosing as I go down the rabbit hole of blender.

I have always been interested in how psychedelics can alter the human brain in the way that it thinks and views things during a trip. All of a sudden everything in this world starts to makes sense even if it shouldn't. After reading this article I felt the same way about A.I. and how it is able to completely alter an image until it is not recognizable. In this article it talks about how an image is fed over and over and over again through the A.I. generator until it becomes shapes, colors and patterns. These images from my experience look close to what you would visually see on psychedelics. Everything around you starts to morph and feels like the environment around you is moving/melting. It is fascinating to me how A.I. basically has a mind of its own and does what it wants. In other words its a self feeding machine that gets stronger and stronger as technology advances. In a way I also think that this method of creating artwork can be very genuine depending on how much the artist manipulates/pushes it. As an artist I have nothing against A.I. and in fact think that it should be used to its advantage that being whatever the artist desires to do with it. I like this article because I think of A.I. as a psychedelic in the way how it changes the users perception of thinking and creating.

Reading blog 3 https://craigboehman.com/blog/in-defense-of-ai-art
I chose to write about this article because it talks about a very important point about A.I. in the art world specifically. It brings up a point that is commonly talked about in the art world involving A.I. which is that A.I. could replace artists. After reading this article it became clear to me that A.I. is not something that will replace artists but instead it is a tool that could help many artists in different ways. In the article it mentions that A.I. is able to create the base of an art piece as a starting point and the heavy lifting is done by the artist. It also talks about other ways it could be used for example like assisting the artist in modifying, editing a piece or improving the work that had already been created by the artist itself. I think people who say that A.I. will replace artists, have truly never even used A.I. before or understands how it truly works. The point of being an artist is to experiment and to be open minded to trying out new methods of creating. If the artist does not experiment at all then are they even an artist? An artist should use the tools they have to their advantage and master them to the point that they are no longer masterable. Another discussion that is brought up in this article is the fact that anyone can make A.I. art. Well i could also say that anyone can make art but does that mean that anyone can make great interesting unique art? Well no not everyone can and same goes with A.I. generated work. You still need to be interesting enough and creative to make great work out of A.I. The artist has to understand how to manipulate A.I. to make it interesting for themselves. My point is that A.I. should not be taken as a threat that will destroy the art world but instead a tool that can be used by artists in many ways.
